Toy At Music 365!

David's journal entry about the new album has made its way into the news at Music 365!

"The 60's album? What could he possibly mean?" they ask, and... "following his Glastonbury triumph, is it time for Bowie to come up with a classic record?"

We know some thing they don't know....LOL!

Go here

Thanks, Spaceface!

Bowie On Vh-1 Germany!

Tomorrow and Saturday, VH-1 Germany will air a one hour live show with Davidas part of their "Live" series. The only information we could get from the VH1 office in Germany is that the show is "between three and four years old."

Given that information we assume it is the "Live From The 10 Spot" show, which took place on October 14, 1997. Organised by MTV, the "Live From The 10 Spot" series was designed to be the counterpart for "Unplugged." This particular show was the first one in this series and was originally scheduled to feature The Rolling Stones. But Mick Jagger fell ill with the flu and guess who stepped in to open the series?

Here are the exact dates (German time):

"Live" with David Bowie
Friday, October 6th, 4pm
Saturday, October 7th, 10pm

Thanks, Brigitte!

Rock Style Exhibition Opens In London Today

And so the story goes, he wore these clothes...

You may remember the Rock Style exhibition that was originally organised by The Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Cleveland. Well, now it has been further augmented by the Barbican Gallery with important British costume loans, photography, graphics, ephemera and interactive elements for the London version of the exhibition. Click on the image above for more details.

Bowie: Mullet God?

According to *Blink* magazine, he is! Blink writes:

What do Billy Ray Cyrus, Andre Agassi and David Bowie have in common? They have all worn mullet haircuts - short on top and long in back. Mullet Gods is an homage to the hairdo of "rebels and rockers" and "Camaro-drivin' dudes."

Three Page Bowie At The Beeb Review In Rc

The October issue of Record Collector, that most serious of publications for spotters everywhere (I include myself in their target audience!) ...has an in-depth, session-by-session review of Bowie at the Beeb. While the review does seem to give the package an overall thumbs-up, it does state that: "...'Bombers' stayed commercially unreleased for nearly 20 years, while Bowie's versions of Chuck Berry's "Almost Grown" and the Arnold Corns left-over, 'Looking For A Friend' are exclusive to "Bowie at the Beeb." Any true spotter worth their salt could tell you that "the Arnold Corns left-over" was available in High Street record stores as a 3-track Arnold Corns 12" single on Krazy Kat records back in 1984, the other two tracks being 'Man in The Middle' and 'Hang Onto Yourself'. Kids eh!? The magazine also has an excellent Placebo interview and discography (look out for Spaceface's chat with the boys soon) and features on The Beatles' infamous Butcher cover and a wonderful 8-page introduction to Krautrock! From Today's Boston Globe

A wife on display

Iman is one of the world's most beautiful women. Her husband, David Bowie, is one of the world's richest and most versatile rock stars. Now you can own her image - from him. The Berklee College of Music, from which Bowie has an honorary doctorate, is auctioning two framed limited-edition paintings of Iman by Bowie. A Berklee spokeswoman calls them ''a little abstract'' and ''an impressionist study.'' Also up for bid: A private concert from a Grammy-winning vibraphonist, Berklee executive VP Gary Burton; passes to next year's Grammys; a vacation in an Irish castle; and more. Tickets are $250. The Oct. 21 auction at the Harvard Club of Boston benefits Berklee's City Music, the college's outreach program for urban teens.

AND you can read my report of David's graduation from Berklee here!

Thanks, DEmerson!!!

More Fantastic Prizes In Yet Another Groovy Competition...phew!!

I keep a photograph...

Here's a funny little photography competition that I thought might amuse you. Every first Monday of the month I will post a photograph that will hopefully be some sort of visual clue to a David Bowie lyric. The idea will be to create two winners each month, one for the supplier of the picture used, and one for the first person out of the random hat that correctly deciphers the clues in said picture.

This is how the thing works. Promising young amateur photographer Mask has supplied this first photograph for us (see above), which, because of its over-simplicity we won't be using. But, what can we glean from the visual information she has given us? Well, we have a cow, (surprise, surprise) and a silhouette of Mickey Mouse. Even a quarter-wit should arrive quite quickly at the song Life On Mars? via the line: "Mickey Mouse has grown up a cow". Yes, It's that easy!

Go here for the rules and this month's competition picture that was sent in by Stephen 'Baby Hair' Breach from Eastbourne, East Sussex, England. Stephen wins a signed BowieNet Roseland poster for his splendid effort.

Page Hamilton Chat Transcript

Here is the transcript from our chat Thursday night with Page Hamilton. Thanks again, Page!

Page answered all sorts of questions ranging from discussions he had with David about songwriting to specific guitar effects in his arsenal to the pros and cons of an education in music.

And don't forget, Page also talked about his new project, which still needs a name! If you can think of any good band names, e-mail them to Saint Alphonzo with "Page Band Name" in the subject line and you could win two autographed CDs (one from Page, one from Bowie) if Page uses your name!
