Polyphonic Spree Pictures, Report And Set List

"Someone passed some bliss among the crowd..." David Bowie hides in The Polyphonic Spree.

And we're gonna have a party...

Finally got some hi-res shots (thanx Gary) of David with The Polyphonic Spree from his pre-show meeting with them on Friday evening. BowieNetters can go here to reach a bigger picture of David and head Poly, Tim DeLaughter, wherein you can have a proper inspection of David's clobber.

By all accounts the band played an awesome set and won a few new converts to the Polyphonic cause. Not least of all BowieNetter 140370 who filed this brief report with a shot he took that captures a little of the onstage madness that ensued on Friday night...

The eagle-eyed amongst you will notice that the only act to appear at Meltdown and High Line is The Polyphonic Spree so they must be doing something right. However, last night at The Grand Ballroom, seven floors up from the streets on New York they were nothing short of a revelation. Mr B was spotted up in the balcony having rushed across town from the extraordinary El Automóvil Gris and his hasty trip was well rewarded, the band have now ditched their robes for a tougher more militaristic look and vibe, the Polys are bringing the good fight to the people and they mean it!

From the opening salvo of American Dream to the final Sun Machine the energy never let up and your correspondent is proud to say that he ended up as part of what will probably be the only stage invasion of the High Line Festival. (Blammo note: you're obviously forgetting that Ken Nordine is still to appear!) The Polyphonic Spree may not be considered as cool as they were by some, but don?t write them off just yet. If DB is sticking by them, that's proof enough that they are still something very special. The new album The Fragile Army is out in June and if they play anywhere near you, just go, you won?t regret it. - Bnetter 140370
