Heathen Vinyl Cd Out Now...win The 12 X 12 Cd

Made for a real world...

Thanx to BowieNetter Georg on the MBs for pointing out the latest release in the German Vinyl Classics range of CDs: David Bowie's Heathen.

This is possibly one for collectors only, as there is nothing beyond the packaging to tempt those that already own the album. Though anybody who can sell a range of CDs under the banner Vinyl Classics by printing a vinyl like finish on a CD has to be applauded...That German sense of humour gets me every time!

If for some bizarre reason you don't yet own Heathen, you'd be better off holding out for the double disc version which shouldn't be too hard to track down.

Failing that, if you're a BowieNet member, you could enter the contest we're about to set to win one of ten copies of the Heathen limited edition CD in 12" LP style gatefold packaging that is proving quite hard to find these days. I could only find one on eBay and that was going for £19.99 (Approx.US $38) and it's selling for up to £28.99 (Approx.US $55) at one online stores.

And so, on to the contest. I have an unpublished manuscript in my possession written by a long term Bowie fan and successful author who shall remain nameless. The book is entitled, appropriately enough: Made For A Real World.

Anyway, reading through it I was struck by the sudden realisation that the passage below had managed to use every word from the combined titles of every track on Heathen ...apart from one song. Weird eh?

Here's the passage, that also seems to have flashbacks of other Bowie lyrics that may help to disorientate you a little...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was 5.15 on a balmy summer Sunday evening as I pushed through the market square. The rays from the sun machine were still coming down, stretching a long alien-like shadow from a solitary cactus that was yet to find a home. There was something in the air, a kind of bubbling madness hidden behind a superficial calm created by the unbelievable events of recent weeks.

I had been waiting for you for the better part of the afternoon and though time was suddenly more precious than ever, I had managed to slip away just for the day. We had agreed to meet to plan what was left of our 'future'...But, with the morning's indigestible news that we had but five years, what would already be known as the slow burn had begun and I was afraid you had changed your mind.

The horrid reality of the 'real world' had rarely had any effect on the one we inhabited, but this was a rude awakening indeed and I felt this trip was a necessary journey to a place I've never dared venture in the past, and certainly not somewhere I would have gone alone. Your beliefs meant that you considered me somewhat heathen, and, though you were no slave to your religion, you felt it was right that I too took the vows that meant as much to me as the fact that you were a Gemini...it didn't matter, but it seemed important to you.

As I turned another corner I was aware that my senses had become more finely attuned to my surroundings, and even though I was sure none of this could be real, every detail became sharper...it even smelled like a street. Then, there in the distance like some shimmering palace of angels stood the spaceship, and my pulse quickened as I realised you were probably already onboard.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just to help you on your way here is the Heathen tracklisting:

Sunday
Cactus
Slip Away
Slow Burn
Afraid
I've Been Waiting For You
I Would Be Your Slave
I Took A Trip On A Gemini Spaceship
5:15 The Angels Have Gone
Everyone Says 'Hi'
A Better Future
Heathen (The Rays)

So, ignoring punctuation and capital letters, etc. you have to work out which song title is not used in any shape or form in the passage above. The words are also jumbled up, so don't expect to find, for example: I Would Be Your Slave, as a complete string of words in any one sentence.

When you think you've found the missing song title, send it to me here.

The contest is open to BowieNet members only and it ends two weeks from now at midnight UK time on Wednesday August 23rd. The winners will be announced soon thereafter. Good luck, kidz!

Recent Dvd Releases Round-up

Well I wouldn't buy no merchandise...

Had a few e-mails asking me about a slew of recent Bowie DVD releases and whether they are officially endorsed or, as is the case more often than not, a lot of old toilet best avoided. Generally the rule of thumb is that if we haven't given something a mention on BowieNet before its release, it's unlikely to be officially endorsed.

Having said that, I know there are those of you (OK, us) that need to own everything with the name Bowie attached to it, regardless of it's origin or quality. Nevertheless, we'll continue to try to give you an indication of whether these products are worth spending your cash on.

First up is Starman (above) which is a "2 DISC SPECIAL EDITION - Including a rare and previously unreleased interview CD", it also boasts a 32-page booklet. On the surface Starman seems to be a pukka release in that it's another version of the splendid American A&E Biography Channel DVD. That same DVD was later issued as the region 2 Sound & Vision DVD, which we gave away copies of earlier in the year. (04.12.06 NEWS: DB ON BIOGRAPHY CHANNEL IN UK - WIN DVD)

It looks like it's been licensed again for this Starman release, but I have to say the inclusion of an interview CD normally indicates unofficial product, on account of interview material not normally having any copyright concerns. Anyway, Starman is a region 2 DVD and is out now.

Total Rock Review (above left) is another region 2 release due next month (September 4th) and for this reason I've yet to view a copy. However, the title makes me immediately suspicious that it's another of the myriad 'critical dissection DVDs created for 'educational' purposes. These are often shoddy compilations of poor quality footage using a loophole in copyright law to fleece unsuspecting fans. If I'm proved wrong I'll let you know, but in the meantime I would suggest you avoid Total Rock Review.

No such ambiguities with Music Box Biographical Collection - David Bowie... it's proper crap! But don't take my word for it, BowieNetter Zardoz kindly agreed to view the thing and here follows his conclusions...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MUSIC BOX BIOGRAPHICAL COLLECTION - DAVID BOWIE

What can I say about this DVD?. Words fail me. Diabolical, amateurish, pish poor, wank. That about sums it up. The short running time of 32 minutes is a blessing in disguise as it is torturous to watch.

An overlayed graphic of a TV screen remains for most of this recycled drivel masking out the content. (Examples above) Two 'expert talking heads' appear from time to time to enlighten us with their insight into all things Bowie. God help us.

It begs the questions: How can these guys get away with this? How many times can the Nationwide footage be ripped off? Why did I buy this?

Avoid at all costs.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanx Zardoz...I think we get the message. Music Box Biographical Collection - David Bowie is not a recommended release!

Win Tons Of Great Bowie Stuff On 6 Music Today

People stared at the make-up on his face...

BBC 6 Music's host of Rocket Science and MINT, Marc Riley, hasn't let the notion of growing old gracefully deter him from experimenting with make-up, hair removal and contact lenses.

Judging from the picture above, one could argue as to the success of his experiments. But, one thing's for sure, you can't argue with the success of the funny fellow's radio shows...or his newly acquired uncanny likeness to Donald Pleasance.

Whatever, today's Rocket Science promises to be an absolute feast for Bowie fans.

Live music will be provided by the aptly-named The Suffrajets, while Marc will be delving into the BBC archives for a classic 1972 David Bowie session.

There will also be the chance to win a special Bowie bag of goodies in the shape of the complete back catalogue on CD, a signed-by-DB Serious Moonlight DVD poster, and, possibly most desirable of all, an Abbey Road 12" promotional only vinyl acetate of the upcoming Baal digital download that we told you about last month. (07.12.06 NEWS: BAAL EP AND BTWN EXTRAS DIGITAL DOWNLOADS DUE)

These acetates are going to be strictly limited to ten copies, of which a couple have already been earmarked for a forthcoming BowieNet contest nearer the release of Baal in September.

Rocket Science and MINT are online and on DAB radio every week at the times indicated in the station ID thingummy above.

But don't fret if you missed the initial broadcast while attending the event below, as you can still listen online up until the following week's instalment.

I think the general consensus seems to be that David Brighton's Space Oddity is at least the most visually convincing of all the Bowie tribute bands, as I'm sure you'll agree from the pictorial evidence above.

Finally, the freshest of the bunch, inasmuch as they are the most recent to form, The Thin White Duke (another UK outfit) are set to play in a couple of weeks at the Ship Inn, East Grinstead on Saturday 19th August. Lead singer Scott tells me it should kick off at 9:00pm and entry is free to all.

Visit www.thinwhiteduke.biz for more info and details of how to get there.

Indeed, keep an eye on all of these band's websites for up-to-date gig information.

I like the clothes that you wear...

Judging by the amount of entries we've already received for August, it's clear everybody is getting the hang of this now. If you're not familiar with the monthly BowieNet give-away take a look at the first day of the news in May and June, and the 2nd of last month.

NB: Please note that incomplete claims may not be despatched until a full claim has been made, as we don't want to be posting several different packages to the same person, and we don't want to make you feel bad about your carbon footprint.

However, don't fret, as soon as you stake a claim on a certain prize, that will be put aside for you until your claim is complete.

In the meantime, all you have to do to be in with a chance of winning some points in the August draw is send us an e-mail here.

Dick Cavett Show Out On R2 Triple Dvd Today

And the tracks were on TV...

Almost a year on from its original release as a region 1 triple DVD set, (05.24.2005 NEWS: DICK CAVETT DVD DETAILS, PLUS NO IOW DVD & 08.16.2005 NEWS: DB ON TWO MOVIE COMP CDS, PLUS DICK OUT TODAY!) The Dick Cavett Show: Rock Icons is finally released on region 2 DVD today.

If you've not already seen David Bowie's appearance on the show from December 1974, you really can't be the full ticket. Anyway, now there's no excuse not to check out one of the more, erm, interesting David Bowie interviews from the period...as if they weren't all interesting from that period.

Aside from the chat with Dick, the DVD also contains Bowie's very memorable performances of 1984 and Young Americans from the same broadcast.

Say Goodbye To Top Of The Pops Tonight

"So I picked on you, hoo, hoo..." David Bowie singles YOU out on TOTPs.

Switch on the TV we may pick him up on Channel Two...

No self-respecting music lover of a certain age will feel at least some small amount of sadness at the news that tonight's hour long Top Of The Pops special (BBC2, 7:00pm) is to be the very last.

Indeed, and as I've mentioned on these pages many times previously, there must be a fair few of you reading this whose journey to this point started with the apparition above when Starman was broadcast by TOTPs on BBC1 on July 6th 1972.

Ziggy with his arm around Ronno 34 years ago. This was as culturally significant as Elvis's 50s thrusting!

My own curiosity had been pricked, (to put it mildly) a couple of weeks earlier with a similar broadcast on ITV's Lift Off With Ayshea. But, it seems to be the TOTPs performance that captured the nation's teenage hearts and minds.

Of course, David had appeared on the programme twice previously, with Space Oddity in 1969 and playing piano for Peter Noone during his performance of Oh! You Pretty Things in 1971.

David would end up making a dozen or so live appearances on the show, but would often be represented by a promotional video, or God forbid, the show's in-house dance troupes, Pan's People, Ruby Flipper, Legs And Co or Zoo!

Still, just remember...If we can sparkle, he may land tonight.

Nick Pegg's Complete Bowie Book Winners

The solid book we wrote... (Well, the solid book Nick Pegg wrote at least)

We set a competition to win copies of BowieNetter Nick Pegg's revised and expanded fourth edition of The Complete David Bowie last week, (07.22.2006 NEWS: COMPLETE BOWIE COMP AND NICK PEGG IN CHAT TOMORROW) and without further ado, here are the questions Nick set again followed by each answer...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question 1: Readers of The Complete David Bowie will know that the first section of the book consists of an A-Z of every song written, covered, performed live or in any way contributed to by David Bowie. Several songs will be making their first appearances in the new edition. So, purely alphabetically, what will be the first "new" entry in the 2006 edition?

Answer 1: Arnold Layne as performed with Dave Gilmour at the RHA back in May. (05.30.2006 NEWS: DB SURPRISE GUEST AT LONDON GILMOUR GIG & 05.31.06 NEWS: MORE EXCLUSIVE BOWIE PIX FROM RAH AND REVIEWS)

Question 2: How many years separate the two photographs that appear on the front cover (above) of the new edition of The Complete David Bowie?

Answer 2: Thirty years (The exact dates the shots were taken are February 13th 1974 and June 13th 2004)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Quite a high percentage of wrong answers on this one, but well done to the five lucky winners below who knew the answers and whose details have already been forwarded to Nick.

blueblue
bruneva
crashingoutwithsylvian
juliedawn
PrettyCranium

Your prizes will be dispatched shortly after Nick's signing session next Saturday, August 5th. (07.17.2006 NEWS: REVISED COMPLETE DB SIGNING AND LAUNCH PARTY)

Thanx again to Nick for signing the books and for popping in to chat the other day, and to his publishers, Reynolds & Hearn for the generous supply of prizes.

Official 2007 Bowie/mick Rock Calendar Details

Hang him on my wall...

As we promised back in March and April (03.12.2006 NEWS: TWO MICK ROCK PERSONAL APPEARANCES IN NEW YORK & 04.20.2006 REMINDER: MICK ROCK IN NYC TONIGHT - CALENDAR UPDATE) we are very proud to be able to announce exclusive details of the official 2007 David Bowie/Mick Rock calendar, produced yet again by Slow Dazzle.

As you can see from the images above, the 2007 calendar will be available with two different covers. The one on the left will be produced in large quantities for general consumption, while the one on the right will be produced in a limited edition of 1,000 copies only.

The limited edition will only be on sale to BowieNetters at first and any of the remaining 1,000 not sold will then be made available to the general public.

While you've been reading the above, hopefully the pages of the calendar (including the fronts and the back) will have had time to load in the animation below. I think you'll agree it's a jolly tasteful affair and beautifully designed to boot...

We'll be posting details of how to get your hands on a copy (or two) shortly, when we'll hopefully be announcing a contest to win signed copies too...not sure exactly who'll be signing them just yet, but I'm certain we'll persuade someone or other!

Remember, these limited editions really do become very collectable. Ordinary copies of the 2005 calendar are now commanding incredible prices while the limited edition signed copies are practically impossible to find.

If you are a BowieNetter I suggest you hold off pre-ordering the 2007 calendar through other outlets, as you definitely won't be able to pre-order the limited edition anywhere else but here until the BowieNet demand has been sated.

Eight #1 Bowie Albums Need Your Vote!

A throwback from someone's LPs...

THE OFFICIAL UK CHARTS COMPANY has launched a campaign to identify the definitive list of the most popular UK number one albums of all time to celebrate the official charts' 50th anniversary... you can vote for up to fifty albums (or as few as one!) at their website.

There have been eight number one David Bowie albums in the UK, and here they are with the corresponding information for each. I.E. Aladdin Sane was the 125th number one album and it reached the top on 5/5/1973. (That's the non-American dating system for obvious reasons)

125 ~ Aladdin Sane 5/5/1973

133 ~ Pin Ups 3/11/1973

142 ~ Diamond Dogs 8/6/1974

238 ~ Scary Monsters And Super Creeps 27/9/1980

280 ~ Let's Dance 23/4/1983

301 ~ Tonight 6/10/1984

405 ~ Changesbowie 31/3/1990

477 ~ Black Tie White Noise 17/4/1993

It's a surprising list when one considers what are now reckoned to be Bowie's classic works. But record sales have never truly been about artistic value, otherwise David Bowie would be richer than Bill Gates!

Having said that, there have been nineteen other top ten Bowie albums in the UK, with fourteen of those reaching the top five. That's twenty two top five albums in total...lord, he probably is as rich as Bill Gates!

Click on the CLICK HERE TO VOTE button above if you wish to take part, and why shouldn't you? You can vote for fifty number one albums and there is also an opportunity to vote for a further ten that didn't make the top spot.

Thanx to BowieNetter jungtheforeman for the pointer.

Happy Birthday To Iman From Bowienet

Monday, Monday, Monday born I was Monday's Child...

I'm sure you'll all want to join me in wishing Iman a very happy 51st birthday today.

Above is the most recent picture we have of her with her bloke, English 70s singing sensation, Leo Sayer, who used to favour dressing up just like a clown. As you can see, he's smartened his act up a bit these days.

As I'm sure you will remember, the shot was taken at the 5th Annual Tribeca Film Festival Vanity Fair Party at the State Supreme Courthouse in New York City back in April. (04.27.06 NEWS: DB AND IMAN ATTEND 5TH TRIBECA VANITY FAIR PARTY)

Best wishes for a wonderful day from everybody here at BowieNet, Iman, and if you get a moment, check out this thread of well wishing started by BowieNetter, Starla.

Life On Mars Premieres On Bbc America Tonight

Take a look at the Lawman, Beating up the wrong guy,
Oh man! Wonder if he'll ever know, He's in the best selling show...

Americans now have a chance to see the British time travelling detective series Life On Mars that proved very popular in the UK earlier in the year. (01.09.2006 SNIPPET: BOWIE SPACE TITLES INSPIRE VIRGIN AND BBC)

Life On Mars is described as "a cross between Back To The Future and The Sweeney", wherein a driven and ambitious young British detective, Sam Tyler, played by John Simm, is determined to keep the streets of 21st Century Manchester safe. But after a near fatal car accident, he wakes up, dazed and confused, in 1973. Has he gone back in time? Is he in a coma? Or has he simply gone insane?

David Bowie's 1971 classic Life on Mars? is playing on Sam Tyler's iPod when he is hit by the car, and the song is still playing on a tinny car radio when he wakes up in 1973, hence the title.

Check out the BBC America Life On Mars mini-site where you can view a playlist of some of the songs played in the series, including, according to the website: The Jean Geanie (sic).

Ziggy Stardust In Observer Top 50...win The Sacd

Music may change...

Last Sunday's Observer in the UK ran a feature on the 50 albums that changed music. Needless to say the publication considered a Bowie album worthy of the accolade.

A hard choice in my opinion, there are several Bowie albums that would fit the bill. Nevertheless, the paper settled on The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, and here's what they had to say about it...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars (1972)

Bowie's revolutionary mix of hard rock and glam pop was given an otherworldly look and feel by his coquettish alter ego Ziggy. It's not so much that every act that followed dyed their hair orange in homage to the spidery spaceman; more that they learned the value of creating a 'bubble' of image and presentation that fans could fall in love with.

Without this ... we'd be lost. No Sex Pistols, no Prince, no Madonna, no Duran Duran, no Boy George, no Kiss, no Bon Jovi, no 'Bohemian Rhapsody' ... I could go on.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In celebration of this recognition, we've decided to give away five copies of the quite wonderful Ziggy Stardust SACD (courtesy of EMI) which was mixed for 5.1 by Ken Scott back in January 2003, and released in September of the same year. (09.29.2003 NEWS: THREE MORE BOWIE SACDs RELEASED TODAY)

And so in the spirit of Ziggy Stardust changing music, I decided to change Ziggy Stardust. All you have to do is spot the five differences on the version of the cover I've posted on the MBs compared with the normal version above.

Simply list the five alterations I've made, for example: 1 = Hair is now green, was yellow. 2 = Extra box of rubbish in foreground of pic.

Those are examples of the kind of things you should be looking for...obviously they aren't actual examples of real changes, but that's how obvious the five changes are.

When you've tracked down all five, send them to me here. The contest ends two weeks from now at midnight UK time on Sunday August 6th, and the winners will be announced soon thereafter. Happy spotting, kidz!

Complete Bowie Comp And Nick Pegg In Chat Tomorrow

For just one time, Tomorrow night, Tomorrow night...

We told you about BowieNetter Nick Pegg's revised and expanded fourth edition of The Complete David Bowie at the beginning of the week, (07.17.2006 NEWS: REVISED COMPLETE DB SIGNING AND LAUNCH PARTY) when we also promised to run a competition to win signed copies of the book no self-respecting Bowie fan should be without.

But, before the contest, it is with much pleasure that I can announce that Nick will be popping into BowieNet chat tomorrow evening (Sunday 23rd) at 6:00pm UK time. It's an informal thing that we are aiming to run for an hour or so, but we'll see how it goes.

And so, onto the contest which consists of two questions set by Nick himself, and here they are...

Question 2: How many years separate the two photographs that appear on the front cover (above) of the new edition of The Complete David Bowie?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We have five signed copies of the book to give away. In the event that your are one of the lucky winners and you would prefer your copy personalised to you from Nick, you must say who you want the dedication made to in your competition entry.

The contest ends at midnight on Friday 28th July to give us time to organise the signing of the winners' books with Nick at the aforementioned signing session in London on Saturday, August 5th. The books will be dispatched soon after that date.

So, send your two answers to me here with your dedication (if you want one) and your real name and address to speed your delivery up a bit.

Don't forget to come and talk to Nick in BowieNet chat at 6:00pm tomorrow...but don't expect any help with those questions!

Now I've found it out you see, Another man standing next to me...

One of the stills in the animation above is from David Bowie's Let's Dance, the other is from the Gnarls Barkley video for their new single, Smiley Faces.

According to the Gnarls Barkley video, the guys have been in on some quite historical musical moments over the years...clever what they can do with computers these days, ain't it?

I'll leave it to you to figure out the impostor.

Thanx to the music TV addicted Holly Blam Blam for the pointer!

Db Confirms Authenticity Of Museum Piece

'Cos you've left your coat behind...

It's possible that the majority of you are already aware of a story on the UK's Bromley Times website, highlighted via another trusty Google alert.

The story relates to the above striking velvet blazer which has been purchased by Bromley Museum for £400 at a recent Christie's auction.

Christie's had previously offered the item in an auction in May of last year with a reserve of £800, but it remained unsold until now.

I asked DB about the blazer at that time and he confirmed that, while he couldn't be 100 per cent certain, he believed it was something he wore while a member of Riot Squad in 1967, and he most definitely recalls giving the item its distinctive finishing touch of stripes with blue ink.

A 20-year-old moody mod test drives the hairstyle and colour for the
Ziggy album cover in a sixties nightclub setting yesterday, probably.

I spoke with the curator of Bromley Museum, Adrian Green, about his successful purchase and he was most pleased to have the authenticity of the blazer further strengthened by David's comments.

Adrian is intending to display the item along with various other artefacts in an exhibition dedicated to Bowie and the punk movement in December...more details of which we'll give you when we have them.

You can read the full Bromley Times article here.

An amusing footnote to this story is the fact that I offered the seller £600 for the blazer when it failed to sell the first time. He refused my offer, obviously hoping he'd be able to hold out for £200 less at a later date!

Still, better on display to the Bowie-loving Bromley locals than hidden away in an old wardrobe getting moth-eaten and appreciated by an audience of one.

J.a.p.w. Releases Sweet Thing On New Cd

New Single, 'Eternal Flame'/'Sweet Thing': August 7th

Headline shows/Spitz Residency/Special guests on Beth Orton UK tour Sept 06

Debut full-length album, 'Real Life' on Reveal Records out now

METRO- 'Stunning' (5/5 stars)

THE TIMES   - ?There might not be a better debut all year? **** (4/5 stars)

Q (Q recommends) - ?Sublime debut.. flooringly beautiful..    absolutely devastating? **** (4/5 stars)

UNCUT  - ?There is fire in the sophistication, could be Willie Mitchell producing a more melodic Kim Gordon? **** (4/5 stars)

THE GUARDIAN  - ?Joan Wasser is the best champagne in the world. A voice so wonderous and moving that it makes everyone else?s seem ordinary and mundane, the indie generation?s Dusty Springfield. The Ride is the most hypnotic and majestic sad song ever and so good it will make you shiver?

( Record Of The Week)

THE TELEGRAPH  - ?For once a bizarre name flags a genuinely idiosyncratic talent. Real Life contains as much naked emotion as it does artful cleverness. A constant thrill?

THE SUN  - ?I defy anyone to not to be smitten by Joan As Police Woman?s highly original songs, the product of a woman with an open mind and her ears to the ground?  **** (4/5 stars)

THE GUARDIAN GUIDE  - ?A sedately?paced collection of beautifully sung torch songs, this feels like a quality band that will be playing in theatres pretty soon.. get in early?

Joan?s ?Real Life? album goes a long way to laud honesty, trust and beauty, and in doing so, lauds her own beauty. You might know Joan from her loud serrated bands The Dambuilders, Black Beetle and Those Bastard Souls. Or playing more subtly and quietly in Antony?s Johnsons or Rufus Wainwright?s band.

Some influences pervade, but this is all together different. It?s music that shimmers, torch-song-like, between categories. It feels adjacent to jazz while being deeply soulful. The voice and delivery has raised comparisons to Dusty Springfield, Annette Peacock and Chrissie Hynde. Like Antony, Joan?s music seems to have come out of nowhere, and yet feels fully-formed, idiosyncratically individual, all on, and of, its own. Simply, Joan As Policewoman feels very Joan .

The debut full-length album from Joan As Police Woman is ?Real Life?. It features the stunning vocals and songwriting talent of New Yorker Joan Wasser already known for her live and recorded work with artists such as Antony and the Johnsons (Antony also duets with Joan on one of her album?s highlights, ?I Defy?), Nick Cave, Scissor Sisters, Sebadoh, Elton John, Rufus Wainwright and more..

UK press reviews for her album have been universally brilliant, it seems Reveal Records have discovered a true star in the making.

The next single from the album is 'Eternal Flame' (released August 7th).

Following studio time recording a new Rufus Wainwright record, Joan As Police Woman toured the UK as special guests to The Guillemots  - they joined her on stage for spine-tingling versions of her song 'The Ride'.

Joan As Police Woman is currently touring the UK including 3 shows at The Spitz (June, July and August) and festivals:
