The song is one of the most covered of Bowie tracks with at least 40 recordings existing.
Of course, those aren't the only artists to have murdered the Hunky Dory classic, Anni-Frid Lyngstad did her best, and when asked by Cameron Crowe in the infamous September 1976 PlayBoy interview how he felt about Barbra Streisand's 1974 version, DB himself famously responded thus: "Bloody awful. Sorry, Barb, but it was atrocious."
The balance has been somewhat redressed in recent years with covers of Life On Mars? by the likes of The Flaming Lips, The Eurythmics, The Divine Comedy and Frank Sidebottom!
