Don't let me hear you say life's taking you nowhere, angel...
As promised yesterday, we can now bring you the full interview transcriptions from the Filter and Soma magazines that Blammo told you about last month (07/05/03 NEWS: DB ON COVER OF FILTER MAGAZINE) and (07/13/03 NEWS: BOWIE ON COVER OF SOMA.)
The FILTER cover is headed, Bowie?s Return To The Golden Years and the article is entitled Such A Perfect Day. Age, Youth, Music, Death, Charm, Grace, Godlessness, Hope and Lipstick with David Bowie. It is really worth the (long) read as David is at his stimulating best and there are some lovely observations and asides from the interviewer. There is also a mini review of Reality at the end of the piece.
Here is a snippet from the interview:
DB: "I think we will feel a lot more content when we are able to accept that life is chaos. I think it was an awful thought 10 or 15 years ago. But I think we are beginning to become more comfortable with the idea that life is chaos and it's as simple as that: it is chaos. There is no structure. There is no plan. We are not evolving. We have to make the best of what we got. And if we can become happy about that, I think we ought to be able to establish a lifestyle in which we are more content."

The SOMA cover is headed David Bowie Postmodern Love and the article is called David Bowie ? Life On Earth, which as the title suggests, is another deep and engrossing interview. Soma also gives Reality the thumbs up, describing it as powerful and unpredictable stuff; and yes, relevant.
Here is a quote from David:
DB: "..making music is really still at the top of my pile. I really enjoy it so much; I love writing it, and I love creating it. And I think we all have a longing for something that can engage our systems, and that we can nurture ourselves with - a romance of life. It becomes harder and harder to plug into that particular feeling, I think. But what else would I do other than what I do?"

It is worth pointing out that both magazines contain stunning new photographs of David. Go buy :-)
