DAVID BOWIE
ANNOUNCES FIRST MAJOR WORLD TOUR IN ALMOST A DECADE
?A REALITY TOUR?
TO VISIT 17 COUNTRIES IN SEVEN MONTHS
LONDON; JUNE 16th 2003
David Bowie today announced that 2003/4 will see him embark on his first major world tour since the hugely successful ?Outside World? tour of 1995.
?A REALITY TOUR? will play to over one million people while visiting 17 countries over a seven-month period and will see Bowie returning to places such as Australasia where he hasn?t performed since the late 1980?s.
The beginning of the tour in early October will coincide with the release of Bowie?s new album entitled ?REALITY? to be released on Iso/Columbia Records. The tour will commence in Europe before moving on to North America. 2004 will see the tour moving on to Australia and the Far East.
In recent years, Bowie has concentrated on more intimate one-off special live events in Europe, which have led to some already legendary shows such as last year?s Carling Hammersmith Apollo show in London and his triumphant return to Berlin at the Max Schmelling Hall, where David and his band played for a record two and three quarter hours. Mixed with these intimate events were hand picked, sold-out festival dates including the spectacular 2000 closing night performance at Glastonbury.
On why he is now returning to the touring circuit Bowie commented ?Last year?s shows were such a tremendous high and the audiences so responsive. My band is playing at the top of its form right now and it would be foolish not to play a tour this year while we're in such good spirits about the live show aspects of our work?.
For the show Bowie will be delving into his extensive back catalogue of both hits and more obscure gems as well as debuting tracks from ?REALITY?.
The tour is presented by Clear Channel and produced by RZO Theatrical. Inc. Additional dates throughout Europe, as well as dates in the US, Canada, Mexico, South East Asia, Australia, Japan among others will be announced.
