And tomorrows of rich surprise...
Firstly from David and all of us here at BowieNet, we'd like to wish you all a very happy new year and the sort of 2003 you are hoping for. We already know about some of the exciting plans that David has in store for us over the next twelve months, but does the information gleaned from his horoscope offer anything new?
Many thanx to BowieNetter Roy Sutton who pointed me in the direction of the January 2003 issue of Horoscope magazine. This edition understandably focuses on Capricorns...specifically on David Bowie, to whom the magazine has given over the front cover and a rather wordy 3-page in-depth analysis inside.
I have to say I don't normally subscribe to this kind of thing, and I would imagine it really can't be that hard to make something of substance for a piece like this. Particularly when one has a life that has been so publicly documented at one's disposal. But, despite my misgivings, here are a few excerpts from the feature (which was written by Helen Adams) just for fun anyway... My occasional silly comments are in italics.
David is a Capricorn, with his Sun conjunct Mars in the twelfth house. He also has Mercury in Capricorn in the eleventh. (Who didn't already know that?)
His Capricorn nature is revealed in the bone structure of his face, and a lot of Capricorn's are gifted with this enviable attribute. (I'm a moon-faced Virgo!)
The Sun in the twelfth brings with it all kinds of gifts and talents, but also kinds of dangers such as being caught up in a world of fantasy, from which it can be difficult at times to distinguish one order of reality from another. (Hallo Ziggy)
David's chart...I'm sure it makes sense to somebody out there.
In 1990 David met Somalian-born model Iman whilst having dinner at a friend's house. A quick look at the aspects between their charts reveals that Iman's Sun conjuncts David's Moon in Leo, which is a great symbol of togetherness. Her fiery and enthusiastic Mars/Jupiter conjunction conjunct David's Saturn/Pluto conjunction bringing him lightness and laughter in an area of his life where he has often experienced difficulty and pain.
She may also be able to help him be quite philosophical about his issues and problems. Her Mercury/Venus conjunction in Cancer opposes his Sun/Mars conjunction in Capricorn, and this helps to form a bond of communication, fascination and deep attraction between them. There is certainly some real chemistry between them.
In August 2000 Alexandria was born and David was changing his spots once more. 'I think the last ten years have slowly become the most rewarding period of my life,' he says. 'I like where I'm at and I'm very comfortable. I like being who I am, who I'm with and what I'm doing. I seem to have found an equilibrium in my life.'
David is no stranger to intensity having both Pluto and Saturn conjunct his Descendant, and would actually find it hard to be around someone superficial for too long. It seems that 2003 could be a year in which he has one encounter which is particularly powerful and which could change his life quite significantly. Perhaps it will change his ideas about his creativity and the direction of his work.
Neptune in opposition to Pluto can bring about the possibility of in-depth spiritual experiences that have a profound effect on our lives. In David's case it may be that it changes his idea of who he is in relationship to others and to the world at large. As Neptune tends to erode away the ego, he may find himself involved in experiences that are encouraging him to function more from the level of his higher self than his personality. Another aspect of this combination of energies is that important objects or people can simply disappear from one's life, which means adjusting to the truth that nothing is permanent.
There's a hell of a lot more where that came from, so whether you think there's something in it or you feel it's a pile of hogwash, you can read the whole thing in the January issue of Horoscope. Now, where are those tea leaves? };-)
PS - Sorry for the lateness of this posting, but my own more earthly new year celebrations were a little heavier than I had originally planned!
