Must have been touching close...
To continue today's news round-up of your 'close encounters' with db, you may recall we launched the refer-a-friend program last year (08/09/01 NEWS: BOWIENET REFER-A-FRIEND PROGRAM) and the prize was the chance to meet and greet David backstage at one of his concerts! Our lucky winner, Miss Gina, chose Detroit as the preferred venue and selected three guests to accompany her to meet him. The meet and greet took place on August 6th and this is what Miss Gina had to say about it.. :-)
"We had such a lovely time... He greeted us sooo warmly, and allowed us 15-20 minutes for autographs, pictures, and our own personal greetings. There is one picture of him holding a Ceramic Tile that I had made for him. The Tibetan characters read: "Tibetan Freedom." The way he was holding the tile looked like a mugshot, so I asked him to get his profile picture. He found that very amusing.. I also gave him letters from other BowieNetters and a sealed Legendary Stardust Cowboy Record. One of my guests flew all the way from Israel.. We are all still reeling from this experience, and soo appreciative that he took the time to talk with us..."
If you click on the image above, you will see David with Miss Gina's gift, posing for the 'mugshot'. :-)
Here is one more word from one of Miss Gina's guests:-
"It was fantastic! I was able to get 'The Buddha Of Suburbia' signed (personalized too) and 'Hunky Dory' for a friend." (nnmaddox)
I have to just add.. 15 - 20 minutes!! cor...
