It's the freakiest show
Life On Mars : Art of Hollywood : Oct 2001 Out of the Blue will stage a new production - "Life on Mars" at the Newtown Theatre in Sydney from November 16th. Life on Mars is an urban conceptual theatre piece based on the music and lyrics of, undoubtedly, the most important and influential popular music artist of our time, David Bowie. Inspired by the theatrical potential of the music, the creative team has devised a common thread to link songs from Hunky Dory, Space Oddity, Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane and Diamond Dogs. (bon)
Theatrical : LA Times : 09/30/01 From a review of the new Garbage album, Beautifulgarbage. The band's mix of everything from Spector to break beats, synth-pop hooks to theatrical Bowie blueprint, actually works to bring out the strong sentiments and attitudes in such songs as "Shut Your Mouth," a sarcastic rant on the way a celebrity is ravaged by fans and media, and "Androgyny," a go-for-it endorsement of sexual freedom.
Host : LA Times : 10/04/01 From a write up on Rodney's English Disco - now on Tuesdays at Tempest. Bingenheimer, best known for his late-night radio show on KROQ-FM (106.7), arrived in Los Angeles as a teenage runaway from Mountain View, Calif. During a stint as an intern at Mercury Records, he escorted David Bowie to all the hot spots in L.A. Bowie returned the favor when Bingenheimer was in London, and his wild trip through British nightlife included a stop at the Cellar, where glitter rock?bands such as Sweet and Slade?electrified the dance floor. He soaked up the new sounds, bought as many records as would fit in his suitcase and returned to Los Angeles inspired.
This Is Not America : LA Times : 10/10/01 The Ahn Trio will be appearing at the California Center for the Arts Museum, on Oct 13th at 8.00pm. Music by Mozart, Musto, Bowie, Bunch, Ewazen, Nyman and others.
