Free Cd In Mojo Magazine!

For completists, there is a free CD with this month's MOJO magazine, out now in the UK.

Track 4 is the 1966 Pye version of 'I Can't Help Thinking About Me.'

The blurb says: 1965, a thrilling big bang of sharp threads, top barnets, illicit drugs and incredible sounds that put Britain at the centre of the musical universe.

Bowie's mid-'60's output ranks among his best work.

I Can't Help Thinking About Me captured the Zeitgeist, all arrogant swagger and Mod attitude.

David rubs shoulders with Small Faces, John Mayall, Donovan and The Kinks.

Rock/paper/scissors

Yesterday we put up links to scanned Alex articles in the press. We just figured we'd let paper beat online press to the punch, for once. Sort of. So today here are some of the cyberlinks, lagging behind. Shame on them!

The fact is, most of the news is the same because the release of "official" information on the new young American has been pretty sketchy. Anyhow, here's a bunch - check 'em out!

Absolute Ikea???

The Swedish worldwide furniture chain IKEA has a campaign running in Sweden called "Killar Kan" (roughly translated: "Guys can do it"). It´s a strange campaign where only men are allowed inside the store on one day, and women are only allowed in male company (kind of discriminating, eh?)...

Anyway, this campaign comes with a CD featuring various artists, one of them being none other than Mr. Bowie himself with the song "Absolute Beginners".

Other artists include Weeping Willows and The Temptations. The CD which is called "An affordable rock´n´roll lifestyle" is published by EMG (cat.nr 20002-2).

I've nothing much to offer
There's nothing much to take
I'm an absolute beginner
Gimme a sofa, for chrissake...

sorry, couldn't resist...

Cyber-Geek Awards
Alan Cummings will be hosting the San Francisco based show while Sandra Bernhard and Tina Brown of Talk magazine will be presenting awards for Best Weird Site and Best Print/Zine site. Baby Bowie
David Bowie and his wife Iman are expecting their first child in August. The superstar couple married in 1992 have been waiting for the "circumstances to be absolutely right" for having a baby and "didn't want to be working the first couple of years of the baby's life" according to Bowie. Bowie said "This is a wonderful time in both our lives." What do you think the name should be?
