Those of you that watch the MBs will have spotted my posting of the above in the early GMT hours of this morning. The UK magazine, HELLO!, has a world exclusive on this one, and what a coup it is. Nineteen brand new pictures of David, Iman and Alexandria spread across as many pages. Such a beautiful family, never seen a happier looking trio. And the picture of Alex by herself is impossibly cute...gorgeous smile. That girl's gonna break a lot of hearts!
The UK press made a big deal of the pictures too. Click on the HELLO! cover above to see articles from The Daily Mirror, The Sun and The Daily Mail. Most of them went with the same quote from David: ?It is amazing how a new child can refocus one?s direction seconds after its birth. Everything falls into a feeling of rightness.?
The magazine itself pictures David and Iman in some wonderfully natural settings, including one of David bottle-feeding Alex, (well how else could he be feeding her?) while Iman looks proudly on. Another pictures David laying in front of open doors to a view of Central Park, cradling the baby protectively upon his chest. These are sensitive and genuinely heart-warming pictures that will have you all cooing without doubt. Yes, even you Kelmar!
There are some priceless quotes from both parents. Iman: "I don't think you could describe David as a New Man because, helpful as he is, I get the feeling that he's really waiting for the time when he can start reading and drawing and teaching her things." And this from David: "When she was born the doctor's first comment was, 'My goodness, David, you've given her your entire gene pool.'"
David also used this opportunity to clear up something about an infrequent visitor to the chat room who has used the name Dungarees in the past, and only last night came into chat as Simdun: "There's a lot of confusion over his name isn't there? Well, let's set it straight. My son's full real name is Duncan Zowie Haywood (Jones). As a toddler he was called by his second name Zowie. But it was such an identifiable name during the Seventies that if I called him loudly in public places, everyone would turn to stare, so I started calling him Joey to take the pressure off. It has the same sound and number of syllables as Zowie. And Joe stuck for most of his childhood. Now he has reverted to his real name, Duncan. Haywood was my father's name." So now you know!
HELLO! is on sale from today (despite a cover date of September 19th). The older fans among you may remember that the magazine exclusively covered David's marriage to Iman eight years ago. Hopefully we will be able to bring you more pictures from the piece once this issue is off the news stands. Aaaaawwwwwrrr, innit nice? :-))
