There is a four page feature in the Sunday Times magazine this week, about Starlab, www.starlab.org, the research lab, think tank, playground for scientists, which has been established in Brussels by entrepreneur Walter De Brouwer. Their idea is to value scientists highly and place them in an environment where their skills can flourish.
The legend "100 years is but a moment in time" is above their door and on their homepage.
This is an incredibly futuristic organisation, looking at such areas as cold fusion, time travel, blending disciplines (such as atoms, neurons, genomes), artificial societies, immune systems and research on the margins of the 'born' and the 'made', among many others.
And the music on the switchboard answering machine? - ZIGGY STARDUST!!
