What Concert?

Rumors have been spreading about a potential Gisborne, New Zealand millennium festival to be held December 31, 1999.

Gisborne holds particular interest in the new millennium because it is the first city in the world to greet the new millennium (being the eastern-most city in New Zealand). A front page article in New Zealand's Sunday Star Times reported that David Bowie has been asked to appear at the special millennium festival.

An official spokesperson from Odyssey's End, the organizers of the festival, said an official announcement of attendees and performers will come by the end of January. Mentioned in the newspaper report are David Bowie, Split Enz, Larry King, Kiri Te Kanawa and more. In a related television report on New Zealand's national news program, several locals were asked if they would pay $200 to attend the festival, and about half of them said "Yes, if David Bowie is there". Is this story true or false? Check back next week?

For more on the 2000 festival, you can visit the Gisborne 2000 Millennium website.

Another Stamp?

Yet another mysterious stamp appears from out of the wide-blue-yonder. This one is from the Caribbean island of St. Vincent, just a stones throw away from Bowies' old home on Mustique.

Says David, "I know and knew nothing about this at all. And St. Vincent was about a 15 minute ferry ride from where I was living. I wonder if they did a Jagger one, or a Princess Margaret for that matter. Any one know anything about this printing?"
