David is appointed artistic director of 'Meltdown 2002'. David performs at the Tibet House Benefit Concert. MARCH
Columbia Records sign David to a multi-record deal through ISO records. David's new album 'Heathen' is due out on June 10th (11th in US). David writes a touching new BNet welcome message. David posts the studio lyrics to 'I Would Be Your Slave'. BNet posts official clarification on David's live dates. APRIL
Happy 10th wedding anniversary to Iman and David. Two new journal entries. BowieNet presents the new 'Heathen' sleeve artwork and provides track and guest appearance details. David announces European tour dates and a US tour with Moby. Roseland 2002 is confirmed. David is to perform at NBC's Today summer concert. BowieNetters obtain Meltdown tickets via a BNet ticket allowance and will also have an Area: 2 tour ticket allocation. There is a new X-change Q & A feature with db and 'Air'. David writes for the NME in front covers special and is their greatest solo artist. The Museum of TV and Radio are to hold a db retro in LA & NY. More 'Ziggy is 30' specials - there is to be a new 30th anniversary special edition double Ziggy Stardust CD!..we hear from 2 fans who attended the Manchester gig and 'Starman' is 30 this month. JUNE

David performs at Roseland, Meltdown 2002, 'Live by Request', the Today show, Late Night with David Letterman, TOTP2 (three songs were aired), the Jonathan Ross show (taping to be broadcast in July) and he sings 'America' live for the Robin Hood Foundation. David is interviewed on BBC radio 2 and 4. Tour dates are confirmed for Cologne, Lucca and Paris and BowieNet offers a supply of free tickets! BowieNetters get to meet David - the meet and greet winners are announced. The Meltdown festival commences with the Philip Glass 'Low' and 'Heroes' Symphonies, and the Legendary Stardust Cowboy. The RFH mag contains a 6 page db spread. David is the guest editor of Mojo and is the cover star of Mojo and Time Out. David's acoustic guitar is auctioned for charity. There are reports and reviews from David's performances at Meltdown (in June), Paris (filmed by ARTE), Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Manchester, Cologne, Nimes, Lucca and Montreux. BowieNet gives away Euro show tickets. David joins Moby for a tour of 'Area 2' - we have reports and reviews from Washington and Philly. and David performs in Holmdel. David appears on the 6'O clock news. The Jonathon Ross taping is aired in the UK. The '60 minutes' interview is aired in AUS. Ziggy Stardust - the 30th anniversary edition CD is released:- it joins 'Heathen' on the UK chart. 'Heathen' is shortlisted for the Mercury music prize. We look back 30 years to Ziggy's performance at the RFH. David writes exclusively for 'V' magazine again. The MWFTE region2 DVD (with extras) is released. David is featured in 'V', Blender, Q, Pulse, Rolling Stone, AP, Hello, Rock and Folk, and Marie Claire magazines and is on the cover of Philadelphia Weekly magazine. David is to perform on the Carson Daly show - BowieNetters win 200 tickets. BowieNetters meet Mick Rock. The Ziggy Stardust (formerly 'The Motion Picture') film is restored and shown in the US - 50 BowieNetters win tickets. DA Pennebaker attends Ziggy film screening. Rex Ray has a new 'Fascination' exhibition. Mick Rock is a guest on the Jonathon Ross radio show. The BowieNet upgrade continues - some important notes for POP3 users. AUGUST
Happy 2nd Birthday to Lexie. The 'Area 2' tour is completed. The 'Best of Bowie' CD tracklisting variations are revealed as is the content of the DVD. The Mercury Prize 2002 CD contains 'Slow Burn'. Hunky Dory charts again. The restored DA Pennebaker Ziggy film is on tour in the US. David meets the Ledge in San Francisco. BowieNetters meet and greet David in Detroit. David is NOT to write a new musical...some words from db. Harpers Bazarre magazine contains 2 gorgeous full page db shots and an interview. Everyone Says 'Hi' is released and goes top 20 :) - it is shown on TOTP's. We have reports and reviews from David's second Heathen tour of Europe - from Berlin, two nights in Paris, Bonn, and Munich. David performs an exclusive live set for BBC Radio 2 - Blammo posts a very special R2 rehearsal report and BowieNetters win tickets to the show. David performs on the Parkinson show in the UK and the lottery show in Sweden. David has signing sessions in London, Paris and Gothenburg. BowieNetters win tickets to the London signing. David receives the GQ 'Outstanding Achievement' award and participates in a unique photo project for GQ magazine. db interviews are featured on BBC radio (Mark and Lard phone-in), XFM, Capital, BBC Radio London, tf1, CNN and Fresh Air. The Sun newspaper runs a db centre spread. The Paris Olympia show is aired on ARTE. David is to perform 7 New York Marathon shows in October and will also perform at the VH1 awards. 'Ive Been Waiting For You' is released in Canada. 'The Prettiest Star' (with Marc on guitar) appears on a new Bolan box set, 20th Century Superstar. OCTOBER
We have reports and reviews from David's performances at Hammersmith - London, Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, New York, Philadelphia and Boston (the New York Marathon shows). David performs on the Wetten Dass show, Quelli Che il Calcio, Regis and Kelly, the VH1/Vogue fashion awards, Conan O' Brien and the Early Show. David has a signing session in Italy. The Radio 2 exclusive performance, the 'Evening with' show and the Jools Holland show are aired by the BBC. Watch the on-line video of David's 'Early Show' TV performance. David is voted at 29 in the top 100 Great Britons list. David contributes two guitars to B.A.D.D. David sings lead vocal on 'Saviour', a track on Kristeen Young's new CD 'Bresticles' (working title). NOVEMBER
David posts a new journal. We have 2 'David Asks' questions and an 'Ask David' answered. David posts a thanksgiving message and quashes 'codswallop' retirement rumours :). The Best Of Bowie DVD is released and goes straight in at no1 on the UK music DVD chart. The Best Of Bowie CD is released and goes in at no11 on the UK album chart. David confirms Tibet 2002. Happy 40th birthday to Gail. We have more live Marathon reviews and pics. The Bowiestore has a new print on offer signed by db and Rex Ray. A new art exhibition in Germany includes work by David. A new db A&E 2 hr biography is aired in the US - buy the A&E video on-line. The 'VH1 Reveals: David Bowie' show is aired. Everyone Says 'HI' is to be included in a new Sony Playstation game - 'Frequency2'. Two db tracks are included on the '50 Years of the Greatest Hit Singles' CD. The B.A.D.D. auction is completed. David posts a Xmas message :). David and Iman attend the 'Gangs Of New York' film premiere and David gives us his verdict. 'Heathen' is released in 5.1 on SACD. Catherine Russell joins BowieNet chat. David wins best artist, best concert and is 'hero' of the year in the 'Rock and Folk' mag poll. Herb Ritts dies aged 50 - Blammo posts one of his classic db shots. BowieNet received 10 out of 10 on the 'Web Review' TV programme. The Tibet House & BowieNet auction front row benefit concert tickets on ebay. David's A&E 'Live By Request' performance is aired in the UK and it contains extra tracks. The Lou Reed 'Raven' track listing details are revealed. The Minotaur Box sells for $9,500.
