David and Iman made the front page of most of the British newspapers today.

The reason, as I am sure you all know by now, is A BABY!!! After a long and hopeful wait, during which they had considered adoption, Iman is three months pregnant and the baby is due to be born in mid August!! (Bowienet members - get your knitting needles out!!) We KNEW you had it in you, you Dawg!!

Dominic Mohan of The Sun’s ‘Bizarre’ column spoke to David last night, and they talked of the couple’s joy at discovering the pregnancy over Christmas. “It was a real double Christmas for us. We were so excited and were both grinning like mad things all day. I’m sure people thought I was back on drugs.” David explained : It’s been a long and patient wait for our baby but both Iman and I wanted the circumstances to be absolutely right.” “This is a wonderful time in both our lives.”

James O’Brien of The Express was told: “Iman and I married in 1992 with every intention of having children together. I know some people thought we were too old even to contemplate the prospect, but we have certainly never subscribed to that point of view. We already have children with other people, but its been a mainstay of our marriage since day one that we intended to have more together.”

“Zulekha (Iman’s daughter, 23) and Duncan (David’s son, 28) are both absolutely thrilled and can’t wait to find out if they are going to have a brother or a sister. But to be honest, Iman and I have no intention of pushing to find out what sex the child is. Girl or boy just doesn’t matter to us.”

“I’d like to think that I’d learned a lot since the birth of my son, and maybe I could pass some of that on to a new child.”

Gareth Morgan of The Daily Star heard from a ‘pal’ of David’s that “It’s wonderful news and David is absolutely over the moon and we’ve all noticed a change in him. Usually, David is so organised and efficient, but in the last two months he seems to have been in a different world. Now we know exactly why.”

David joked with James Scott of The Mirror that “We’re looking at names at the moment and all I can tell you is that it will be in keeping with the Somali-Bromley tradition.” Iman told him “When we met, we realised very soon that we were both looking for the same thing, someone to nest and be secure with.” “David’s such a good father to his son,” and “I’m in a position to be a very different mother (this time around) with more time and experience”

Alison Boshoff of The Daily Mail mentioned David’s description of his first meeting with Iman “I just fell under her spell. I make no bones about it. I was naming the children that night.”.
