At left is a 16-color portrait of me. Or
a version of me, at least. I suppose you saw it already if you
got here from my index page. I'm still a little irritated that I
don't have a scanner, but at least that can't stop me from
depicting myself here in all my glowing 16-color genderfree glory.

These are two
more 16-color self-portraits. They're part of a long series of
self-portraits I did on the computer a few years back, when all I
had was a 16-color art program. (Transparent GIFs didn't even
exist at that timeI didn't apply the transparency until
years later.) The self-portraits in my 16-color series were all
started from the same basic picture, but I adjusted the picture
to depict different aspects of me: different moods, different
clothing, different hairstyles. Originally they were all full-length
portraits like the one I showed you at the top of this page,
without the ovals and the crumbling effects, because they were
drawn just for me, to see how many people I could find in myself,
without any intention of being artistic.
