Abstractions V

I created this picture from a close-up photograph of the tip of a white feather. The only thing left of the feather now is the way the lines converge in the lower left corner—that was where the branches of the feather merged into the stem.

This is another one made from the same feather, and this time you can easily recognize bits of feather but you still probably wouldn't know they're feathers if I hadn't told you so. This is my favorite of the feather pictures, mainly because I managed to keep the texture so much intact. I'd actually blurred it rather badly when I was stretching it into new shapes, but when I finished stretching it I shrunk it to a smaller size and clicked on "sharpen," and the focus came back almost exactly the way I wanted it. It's very rare for me to have such luck.

This one one the left is a neat little thing I drew from scratch. I like it because of the shapes in the middle—I see a winged symbol slipping out of a loop. I'm not sure what the symbol denotes, but it looks like it ought to be a symbol—one of those astrological eahcb signs or something. Someday somebody will invent a meaning for it. Maybe it will be you! Start thinking hard . . .

I made this picture out of a close-up photograph of a chicken's wing. It's a particular favorite of mine, because it never fails to give me that warm, fuzzy feeling of being under somebody's wing. Also it makes me laugh to think I made it out of a chicken.
