I like the angularity of this picture and the
contrasts of the bright colors and dark shadows. I made it from a
photograph of a fan-shaped plant with long thin leaves like
blades of grass.
I did this picture in June 2000, starting with a
photograph of white lace. I tinted the lace and then applied a
Photoshop plugin called Lacquer (made by Sandwater) to create the
lacquered texture.
This picture on the left is my artistic
interpretation of those bright lights they have at baseball
stadiums at night.
I drew the one on the right from scratch, mainly to
see if the paintbrush effect in my art program could be put to
interesting use. It's all right, but it doesn't speak to me
deeply.
This is one of my most recent pictures, from August
2000. I'm not quite happy with the green portions, which are
supposed to look like ferns and other lush rainforest vegetation
but at the moment look more like green and black computerized
static. The overall composition is great though, and of course I
love the rainbows and the big glass eye in the center of
everything, so at some point I'll probably go back and fix the
ferns to give them all the details of realistic leaves and stems.
And then the picture will be perfect.
