Stephen Finer, Iman and David Bowie, 2000

you're crazy girl, stay by my side...

You may recall mention of Stephen Finer?s Bowie portraits in past postings here in BowieNet News, ( 10/18/00 NEWS: ART DECADE...WELL MONTH ACTUALLY and 01/26/01 NEWS: LAST CHANCE TO SEE DAVID AND IMAN ) well now you can view two previously unseen portraits of David and Iman at Finer's next show. The exhibition entitled: Stephen Finer: Paintings, runs from 22nd June - 2nd September 2001 at the Pallant House Gallery in Chichester. Here are the full details:

Pallant House Gallery, 9 North Pallant, Chichester, PO19 1TJ. Tuesday to Saturday 10.00am to 5.00pm. Sundays and Bank Holidays 12.30pm to 5.00pm £4 adults, £3 +60s, £2.50 other conc. FREE W Sussex students and children up to 16.

Here's a bit from the press release about the show:

"The subjects of Stephen Finer?s paintings are names and faces we are all familiar with, David Bowie and Iman, R. B. Kitaj, Alexandra Bastedo, Patrick Garland and Marlene Dietrich and yet in his unique style the sitters and the paintings take on a new life.

An earlier painting of David Bowie hangs in the National Portrait Gallery and another portrait, David Bowie and Iman was included in the recent exhibition Painting the Century. (Blammo note...you can view both of these paintings by going to the earlier BowieNet News posts mentioned above.) This exhibition offers the opportunity to see a wider range of his work as well as a new ?Bowie? painting. The double portrait, Iman and David Bowie, 2000 has never been exhibited before and, along with the rest of the show, is available to buy.

Finer has been exhibiting in this country for 20 years and has works in the Arts Council, British Council, Contemporary Art Society and private collections in Britain and America."

Btw, Chichester is on England's south coast between Portsmouth and Bognor Regis...anyone up for a BowieNet coach trip down for a day at the seaside? It would be lovely to see Rednik in his Speedo's...again.
