Eye Know Eye Know .....

Bloody eyes eh ? Who needs em ??
Well we all do i suppose
Its been a strange 3 weeks here.
At the end of July, took the family to London for my step-daughters 18th birthday. Had a great time, really really good, and Hayley was enthralled with London.
But whilst there, my right eye started playing up, getting sore, and red. You may recall i had a cornea graft last Novemeber.
When i returned home, i went straight to the hospital, and they immediately kept me in, fearing that my body was rejecting the cornea graft. Indeed, this was the case. For that first week, it seemed i was gonna lose the graft, and indeed lose the sight of the eye
Over the course of the last two weeks, ive had to keep going back for over-night stays in hospital, whilst being given strong doses of steroids, intravenously.
You`re only allowed 3 courses, and after the second, there really hadnt been much improvement.
Many thoughts were going thru my head at this time, not self-piying thoughts, i dont think, just practical ones, like work, how it will affect driving, how it will affect living day to day,how it would be limiting for any future endevours etc......so, after a few days of such thoughts, one begins to be thankful for the things that STILL remain. Being alive, being lucky to still have my facultys etc
After the third treatment tho, i seemed to turn a corner, and the consultant was ecstatically suprised at how well the eye had responded to the third course of treatment. Tho not out of the woods yet, im still on anti-rejection drugs, he seems to think the graft will be saved
Of course, rejection can occur at anytime, it seems, which is a little disconcerting, but with close monitoring, one can only be thankful for the skills of all the doctors concerned.
The problem i have now, is being stuck at home, whilst i continue the intensive drug treatment. (sorry Keiths, i wanna work )
Im able to get out and about now, which means, with the kids being off school,i can mess around with them,so hopefully, things are lookin up.
And of course, i have this site to help me in my rehabilitation
A few friends have kept me smiling throughout, and the otherside of the coin, being those friends who are suffering in many other ways, with personal issues, and illness, and in some cases death, and its important to read these things, and keep a firm perspective on ones own surroundings.
Have a lovely day everyone

All You`ve Got To Do Is WIN !!!

Why does supporting a football team make you feel so happy ?
Man Utd won the European Champions League last night against Chelsea, and along with the League Championship last week, another highly successful season for my team.
I mean, the fact that we won , hasn`t really altered anything in my life. It hasn`t made me wealthier, there`s nothing tangible i can touch, and the world does indeed carry on as it did before ..... but im just so deliriously happy
So proud that the team i support won, playing an attractive style of football, against strong opposition.

Anyhow, i just "had to write it down".
Its nice to look back.
I phoned so many people last night after the game, from family, friends, Bnetters, I phoned Keiths in Moscow. I phoned my dad and screamed "WE FUCKIN DONE IT!" just like i did in 1999 when we last won the trophy. And he answered in exactly the same way...."watch your bloody language"
So, apologies for the forthcoming few days. I may be even more irratating than usual. Please forgive me, and try n understand, i am but a simple man of simple means, who takes simple pleasures from his footie team.

ta-ra xx
