seven

Live album number seven here in my list is David Live, which was the artist's first live album and originally consisted of 17 tracks, culled from a bunch of consecutive performances during the first leg of his 1974 American tour.

This 2-lp from 1974 saw another major release in the very first paragraphs of the nineties, when two bonus tracks, Time and a cover of Here Today, Gone Tomorrow were added to the album.

The third time this album was released was in 2005. Two additional bonus tracks were added yet in the form of Panic In Detroit and Space Oddity. You can say this album has gotten better with every re-release thus. The 2005 edition finally restores the whole set list of the concerts, and in the correct running orded en plus de ça.

What's even extra nice, the 2005 edition features a brand new stereo mix. The difference between the new mix and the old mix may not be as radical though as it is on the Ziggy Stardust The Motion Picture album.

Tin Machine's live album was recorded in several different cities, not in Canada, but in the land of stars and stripes and in the land of the rising sun, i.e. in USA and Japan.

The album kicks off with a rocking cover of a song penned by Bryan Ferry, If There Is Something, which was originally heard on the Roxy Music debut album.

That is followed by two songs that are perhaps the best two Tin Machine songs, namely Amazing and I Can't Read. Five other tracks follow, from the Tin Machine debut album's opener Heaven's In Here to the last number of their second album Goodbye Mr. Ed.

What's the best Tin Machine song that is not on this live album? If I'm asked, it's Amlapura.

Hey, hey... I dream of Amlapura...

Canada

This is the dvd/cd set that was released three years ago. An update of the original VHS release from the 1987 tour, now on DVD and, as a bonus, a previously unreleased live concert from Canada (notice the red and white colours) from the same tour on two cds.

Some kick-ass live versions here - the ones I like the best are Bang Bang and Loving The Alien, with its extended guitar solo. Also All The Madmen, Big Brother, Time... A very enjoyable live 2-cd all in all.
