a poem
October 06, 2011 03:44AM
Here is a poem I wrote which is very loosely based to Bowie's song When I Live My Dream.
Afraid to Dream
Afraid to dream, afraid that you might not be there
Where I am alone in my dreams
Early one morning when I went to work
The same slowly killing routine day-in day-out
I didn’t see any other reason to continue on that orbit
If, in the very beginning, my boss wouldn’t have put me into it
Oh my God, how desolate are those trees
And passers-by who go in their blurry coats
These gloomy views capture my dreams and send it to a prison camp
But I go on step by step
The next pedestrian approaches
I see his figure growing in my eyes
Then he goes past me, fades out in the horizon somewhere behind my back
Now were you just a puff in the wind in the first place?
Maybe a trick from under the magician's hood
No, just someone I put up in my memories

Here is my new poem, I hope you like it. I spent the whole day writing it. This poem was inspired by David Bowie's song "We Are Hungry Men".
The Night I Met Donald Duck
Listen, Donald, we come from two different worlds
I just sit here in my room
While you drive along the mainstreet, heading home
Running down around the towns along the shore
And you can’t tell what the hell those brakes are for
We two can’t be compared, as far as I can see
I have my beliefs and possessions and my back to the sea
While Donald, you left your mind to the powers that be
I hear your voice, your quack quacks
You have found your own sweet sound
That’s all right, I’ve got no complaints
You know, there seems to be so many with a view like this
“We don't give a damn for what you're saying”
Suddendly, he is at my door and takes me by the hand
He takes me out and soon we are on a dancefloor
His breath is foul with beer as we dance
It was there where Donald told me with his quacks quacks
He said: “You don't seem to hear me clear”
I looked him right in the face, and I mumbled
”Well, that’s what you said”
The look in his eyes was a little bit dubious
He said he would go back home so he blew me a kiss goodbye
Jumped into his car and drove away past Scrooge’s money bin
I guess I knew he would leave
But I still hear his voice in the night everytime I call
Wow...

Quite a catch that one. I wish I had 10 000 $ to buy items like that.
