Remember, remember, the 5th of November...

August 07, 2006 06:09AM

I got "V for Vendetta" today and watched it for the first time... OMG, I LOVED it!!! Yay for awesome movies!!! Don't worry, no spoilers ahead. Was it just me, or was Hugo Weaving's voice extremely sexy in that film? Oh god, I certainly have this thing for anti-heroes... I so fell in love with V. I mean, you pity his character for all the pain he's gone through, but at the same time, you're like, this guy is out murdering all these people, and yet he does all these endearing things like cooking eggs wearing a flowered apron over his superhero outfit, or watching an old black and white movie. I just loved all those little those details that he was given; he was so eccentric, and yet suave and and entrancing at the same time. Especially his voice... And the thing is, you never see his face thoughout the whole film; it reminded me of this Humphrey Bogart film, called "Dark Passage," where you don't see his face for like half the film because he got plastic surgery in it, supposedly, so he's wearing bandages for half the film; so you really have to focus on the character and the voice instead of the face. But yeah, amazing acting job by Hugo Weaving. Great job by Natalie Portman, too; her self-discovering as she tries to figure V out really moves the story along. The political implications of the film were really powerful, but I must say, as I'm a really visual gal, I was most impressed with the aesthic appeal of the film.. It reminded me a lot of "Equilibrium," actually... The focus on forbidden objects being hidden away, the treasure troves of hidden objects having more brilliant colors than the city, along with the colorful forbidden memories of the prisoners. Oh, and all the symbolism with the roses and what V really stood for and everything, just brilliant... OMG, just loved the whole thing! Seriously, go see it...

Also picked up "The Libertine" with Johnny Depp (yummy, can't wait to see it) and "Quills," which I'm curious to see because I read somewhere on one of my LJ communities that it was a must see for every hopeless romantic, so I'll let you know how it is. Also got Madonna's "Confessions on a Dance Floor" and Keane's "Under the Iron Sea." Love the Madonna CD; the songs have amazing beats and are very catchy. I think "Under the Iron Sea" is going to take a bit of a few listens to get me into it properly; but I did take to the song "Crystal Ball" right away. Absolutely LOVED that song right away! I just think the CD as a whole is a bit disjointed compared to Keane's first album, but it's not bad, by any stretch of the means.

Also picked up the play, "Faust" by Goethe at Barnes and Noble; I recently read a SS / HG fanfic where Snape was quoting Faust during most of the more intimate scenes of the story, and I thought the quotes were absolutely beautiful, so I really wanted to read the whole thing. I'm excited because the book I got has the original German translation on one side of the book and the English on the other side, so I can practice my German, too! God, I love that language, the way it just rolls off your tongue.

Well, I guess that's all for now.

Fun Stuff...

August 06, 2006 03:51AM

I swear, when I get old, I hope I'm like Endora, as played by Agnes Moorehead, from the TV series, "Bewitched." That witch doesn't take crap from anyone, lol, and she lives it up, no matter that she's like hundreds of years old! That's my random thought of the day, lol...

Today I saw the Woody Allen movie, "Scoop," starring Woody Allen, Hugh Jackman, and Scarlett Johanssen, and I LOVED it!!! It was soooo funny! God, Woody Allen is a genius and he was so funny in the film, too; the film was so quirky with just the right twists and jokes at the right places. Hugh Jackman was perfect for his part, and stunningly hot, as always, but I can't say much about his character, because it'll spoil the plot. Anyway, it was one of the best movies I've seen all summer. Scarlett Johanssen's role was quite an about-face from her sultry temptress character in "Match Point," but she executed the part equally well. Great acting by everyone. I highly recommend this movie; it was great!

Sigh... I sure hope Cornell calls me soon, dammit! It's getting awfully late, and I still have to sort out housing and classes and all that crap if I am going back, and I still haven't heard from them yet. Argh. I literally have two weeks left in which to resolve all of this. Good grief.

Anyway, in the realm of fanfiction, I found another long, SS / HG one to read, although at this point, Snape is getting a bit OOC for my taste; I really can't picture Snape crying, which he did in this story. That's just tugging a bit at the limits of what my imagination can take, lol. Oh well, I'm still able to suspend my disbelief for the time being, so I'll keep reading until the end. I'm curious to see if the relationship gets any more intimate than furtive stolen embraces, or if they're doomed to unrequited love / lust for all eternity, lol.

Ah Severus...

July 12, 2006 05:07AM

Hehe, yup, I'm back into my Severus Snape / Alan Rickman groove again! My sister and I just recently watched all of the Harry Potter movies in a row, so I've become reobsessed. Fanfiction is a must, of course, so I've started reading again, and I've really got to get to work on my Snape story.... I'd like to finish it before I go back to school, but I'm not really sure if that's going to be possible at this point.

Anyway, here are a few of my favorite Snape music videos I've found over at youtube.com! Good lord, that site is addictive; I literally spend hours watching all the fan videos ppl make over there just for Snape.

This one is set to "Lying from You" by Linkin Park; it's what first got me into their music; I really think the song fits Snape perfectly. It's pretty much an angst vid.

This one is to "Tainted Love" by Soft Cell; some great editing on the part of the creator of this one, hehe... Clips fit well with the beat.

This one is set to "Underneath the Veil" by Wolfsheim; I'd never heard this song until I saw this vid, and I really like it. Another angst type vid, but very fitting for Snape.

This one is set to Moby's "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?" Absolutely superb editing and perfect mood for Snape... The creator of this one, Vegetina, makes excellent videos; I'll have another of hers down this list; she also makes some other great Alan Rickman ones for his other movies if you search for them.

This one is set to "Snake Eyes" by AC/DC; a very sexy vid, heehee.

Another of Vegetina's amazing vid's, this is set to David Usher's "Black Black Heart." This has got to be one of my absolute favorites... It is such a SEXY video! Fits Severus to a T. Love the song... May have to procure it somehow in the near future, hehe.

Here's another of Vegetina's creations, this is a Snape / Hermione video set to "Beauty and the Beast" by Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson. It is such a beautifully edited video; I love how it really looks like Snape and Hermione are actually interacting with each other and and looking at one another!

OMG, let me just say, if you watch any of these videos you have to watch this one! I was laughing so hard watching this I literally couldn't breathe. I won't say anymore than that. Enjoy!

OK, I guess that's enough for now... Lol, I guess this would have taken a lot less time to write had I not been tempted to watch every single one of these videos over again as I posted the links. Oh well... Just couldn't resist!
