In this age of grand illusion you walked into my life out of my dreams
I don't need another change, still you forced away into my scheme of things
You say we're growing, growing heart and soul
In this age of grand illusion you walked into my life out of my dreams
Sweet name, you're born once again for me
Sweet name, you're born once again for me
Oh sweet name, I call you again, you're born once again for me
- they're EXACTLY what i want to say
look back in anger

found this from an online press archive a couple of days ago... this contains a screenshot of bowie & two dancers from the la la la human steps performing look back in anger, but i don't want to translate the caption below... anyway, the other paper less yucky than this is correctly mentioning david bowie's name and even the song's title (in translation).
i was just eight years old then, so i asked mom if she'd watched the show. she answered yes a little - quite unexpectedly - but she said it hadn't been very easy to understand. but the fact is there were really some people who saw david bowie back then......!
i read some reviews on the show from local papers and also from the ny times, and i understand the point of the criticism of the latter. it said about the 'little angels' and reading the line, i could understand what it was written about. we saw them way too much back then... it's like, we really sang all the same way with the northerners, like canaries......
the other day i found the cover image of lou reed's set the twilight reeling in a little picture book on design i'd bought three years ago... then i felt a little overwhelmed (because i might see the image even three years ago!) and this one of about 20 years ago again......
A spectre is haunting

i've wondered why there wasn't anybody mentioning bowie or certain aspects of the 70's culture abroad here. i tried to dig out what some of my favorite writers of the old days had been doing in the 70's, but - i must admit how ignorant i am - both of them was found to have been dead before the 70's. one killed herself in 1965 in munich, germany. the other one was hit by a bus on the way home in 1968. i found the former one, diarist, had commented on the songs of elvis presley and paul anka in her diary in 1961, but there were no more than that.
and there was a military coup in 1961, the dictator's long hold on power lasted till 1979, when he was shot by his confidant. but we had two more military dictators except him. those confusing era ended at last in 1992. i remember the history teacher told us to correct some paragraphs of our textbook on the former soviet union and the cis when i was at a junior high.
and it was a shock to me. the other day i was turning tv channels and happened to watch a talk show rerun. there an old rock musician appeared as a guest and said how he'd been overjoyed when he got the chance to travel to japan in the early 80's. he said, traveling abroad was strictly limited in the 80's. that shocked me.
oh, that was it. that was how the whole story started.
