My son handed me some beats and music . . . which immediately reminded me of Sound And Vision . . . . I went to work on it and came up with some lyrics and melody--really wanted to have a female voice doing the "do do do do's" .. but never was able .... Also, the chorus of Slowburn was coming to me... that cool strange truncated effect on David's voice ... So our song Blue & Gold is a sort of humble homage to both those songs, as it turned out ...
Just thought I'd mention it for any who like to peruse bowie inspired artists.. which i have been for... long time ...

Indeedy, happy birthday . . . !
A year ago me and my two youngest boys started to record an album together called "The Drifter's Legacy" . .. . As with all the music I have done, it's all in the shadow of my mainman of song... When we came up with a name I couldn't help some allusion to him--we are called Red Sky Sailor and just yesterday our cd became available on cdbaby.
I could never make it in the music biz back in the day because they said I sounded too much like Bowie and there was already a Bowie ... and I'd say, I can't help it--it's how I sing (because it is what I sung to all my growing up years).
If you get a chance, check it out and you will notice all the references, a few lyrical, but mostly musical and vocal, with my boy Isaac producing the best Alomar/Belew type guitarisms of any guitarist I've tried to get to do the same.
There is also a slight homage within an homage re the song "Electric Friends" . . . Gary Numan-esque . . . .

Greetings pretty things...
Haven't chimed in here for a while--too much just survivin' ... but I have recorded some new tunes and played a gig at the Orion Independent Music Festival in Park City Utah nearabouts the time of the Sundance Film Festival (dang I missed the Moon debut by a year--how cool it would have been to bump into sailor while there) . . .
If you're into checking out new music--all mine very B-influenced....I'd love for you to hear a new song I did with my son called "Good-Bye Los Angeles" which has gotten some good reviews .... we wrote it after seeing the movie Book Of Eli ...... an apocalyptic little ditty it is .....with a reference to Halloween Jack in the lyrics... heh..
