Yep, as the title says, I have a job!!!! I'll be working for the school library service processing school project loan orders. It's only to work during the school holidays so I'm still unemployed during term time at the moment!! There aren't that many Teaching Assistant jobs around at the moment, but that could be because the schools have only just got back. They should start appearing again in another couple of weeks. But at least I've got something during the holidays. Hooray!

So, I had my little trip to Blackpool this weekend. David Tennant was switching on the illuminations so I'd been looking forward to it for months!!! Normally I'd steer well clear of Blackpool because I hate the place but I was willing to drag myself up there just to see David!! :) Anyway, we got there early on Friday morning and had a bit of a hike to our hotel (we stayed on the North shore). The weather was crappy, really cold and windy and the sea was quite choppy. Some of the waves were huge! The people walking along the promenade got soaked!! lol
So we had a little wander around to kill some time and try to find the place where the switch on concert would be. We found it around lunch time and there was already quite a number of people queueing. Some had actually camped out overnight so that they could be on the front row!! Madness!! We decided against joining it and just take our chances when the gates opened between 4 and 5. The queue was all the way down the street by then so it was pretty obvious we'd be quite a way away from the stage but I didn't care, at least I'd still be there to see David. When we eventually got into the "arena" (it was actually an outdoor carpark!) we managed to get into the disabled area because my mum has diabetes and can't stand up for long periods of time. Her feet had actually swollen up by the time we got in there due to the long wait in the queue. The disabled area was quite a distance from the stage but it was all fenced in so there was space to move around.
The concert seemed to drag, maybe due to me not liking any of the acts on or due to the freezing cold!! We had a really good compere though called Joey Blower (who is apparently a legend in Blackpool) who kept the crowd entertained in between the acts. The acts were; the cast of the local production of Chicago, the women from the Sheila's Wheels advert, Billiam, RyanDan, a 14 year old girl from Blackpool (who I can't remember the name of), Natalie Imbruglia, Ghosts, Natasha Bedingfield, Gareth Gates and McFly. None of them impressed me though. Finally, at 9.25pm David appeared!! All those hours of waiting just for a 10 minute glimpse of David Tennant!! lol He looked gorgeous though. He came on stage through the TARDIS and was almost attacked by a Dalek!! He looked like he really enjoyed himself.
I was so glad to get back to the hotel though, I was so cold. Unfortunately my lovely sleep was disturbed by a group of girls in the room opposite me. They were part of a hen night so they got back in around 3.15 and didn't even try to be quiet. I asked them to keep it down and they disappeared off to one of their friends' room. But then they came back just after 4 and it all started again. I was so tired so I just went down to get the night porter instead, which seemed to do the trick. If it had been left to me there would have been blood spilled!! :D My mum didn't sleep much either, but that was due to the window in her room being locked in an open position so she was freezing all night.
So Saturday morning we decided we'd try and catch an earlier train home, but not before we had a look around the Doctor Who shop!!! :D It was nice to get home and have a decent night's sleep!! I've uploaded my pics here - [url]s75.photobucket.com/albums/i286/bezzott/Blackpool/
