the SaltyBunny Hutch......
August 22, 2009 10:30AM
.....is coming along fine! finally signed the agreement 3 days after i posted my last blog and moved in on the 18th of July. obviously didn't move all our stuff at once - that all followed a few days later. but i slept here for the first time that sunday and took the ONE bus (instead of 2, as in the past from the lil village of Bovingdon) to work the next day.
we're renting a semi-detatched house in Croxley Green. got the Met line just 3 minutes away which is good for Darin....he can now start looking for jobs in London, if there are any out there
, have the Grand Union Canal just a few minutes away as well which is lovely to walk along.
for those who don't know: the G. U. Canal stretches over 220 km (137 miles) from London to Birmingham. plenty of furry/feathery friends to see and also lots of houseboats as well.
we're renting the place with Darin's brother Chris (anyone who was at the IOW festival in 2004 and came over to TVQB's camper will have met him) and Chris' 16 yr old daughter Lucy and it's working out quite well. we have the largest bedroom which luckily is as big as the lounge. so we got all our stuff in here: desk w/PC, telly, bed, chair and table in the bay window area, wardrobes (ugly ones.....it's partially furnished, so we grin and bear those bits!), set of drawers we bought (pretty!!!
) and we still have plenty of space to move around in. we lucky!!!
and Chris and co spend their time downstairs in the lounge. we share the house chores, do seperate shopping (Chris bought a 2nd fridge for himself and co), sometimes spend time together, sometimes not. we all respect each others' space and it all is working out quite nicely.
so, we're quite happy here. we have our own personal space but also interact with Chris and Lucy and Lucy's girlfriend Hannah who is very sweet, funny and quirky. she's so full of energy that she actually borrowed garden tools from her dad and came over to do some work with Lucy. our garden was so overgrown when we moved in and the girls cleared it all for us (and themselves.....the 1st night here they wanted to camp out in their Union Jack tent, although Chris was frantically building up Lucy's bed before she came back from holiday LOL!).
but i admire their motivation and dedication! they even started painting the fences and mowed the lawn last week, and it was THEIR idea!
not the cliche slacker teenies at all! a refreshing breath of air
oh, and we also have the "dining room" area which we are going to turn into a "guest room". still gotta get a sofa-bed thingy and clear out the room that's still stuffed full of our gear ("ours" as in Darin's and mine.....we just own too many books and cds
) but we're gettin' there, slowly but surely.
anyway, we happy, hope you happy too!
and hope to see lotsa you at Keefs paaahtay in september!
love 'n'hugs from da SaltyBunny!0

"it's been so long.....yes, it's been so long....."
lotsa stuff going on in the SaltyBunny Hutch lately, and lotsa things not quite going on
Salty's quite busy lately with the painting/decorating job he's doing with his brother Chris, which is good! quite a few jobs have come in after a tiny dry spell!
he's still looking for a job in his sector, but there's fuck all out there, so he'll just carry on doing this.
better than flipping (his! as he just pointed out!!!!) meat at McDoom's i s'ppose
me still busy, VERY busy in my company......we've had fuck loads of wheelchairs coming in (all ordered by the different wheelchair trusts) and i'm usually always the "lucky one" who gets to unpack them and locate them in the shelves.
after about 200 of them over a period of 1 1/2 weeks, you kinda get sick of them (which is not very helpful if you're working in that business
) and are quite worn out, but, hey, the business is running so who am i to complain? (except for about an aching back, legs and arms! )
in the meantime i've got me implant (just the rod) and have another dentist appointment coming up this friday, just to make sure all is ok. feels ok....stitches have dissolved and there's no swelling and the denture feels fine there now. still trying hard to at least cut down my smoking (it affects the bone growth which is necessary around the rod in order for it to stay in place), but of course would rather stop altogether. have been mostly good, having kept my fag intake under 10 a day, but lately have had "naughty days" where i had more. (Auntie Rog: back in yer box!!!
)
reason being stress, cos there's more on the horizon....the bit that's not quite happening:
we plan to move into a semi-detatched house in Croxley Green, along with Salty's brother Chris and his daughter Lucy (the 16-yr old who was thrown out of home by her Mum....i mentioned this a while back).
anyway, it's actually all done and dusted, what with references and guaranteurs, etc...except the bloody estate agent is dragging his feet AND arse! we were supposed to hear from him numerous times about numerous small details, and it was always Salty who had to chase him down, so to speak, to get things done. the latest thing being: Mr. Lazy Sod was supposed to let Salty know yesterday whether we can finally sign the tenancy agreement tomorrow (Wednesday, 15 July) but we still haven't heard from the bugger! AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!
oh, and we actually were supposed to have moved in on 20th June!!!! HAHAHA!!
yes, Bunny has turned into impatient Thumper yet again!!!
anyway, we know all will go well, it's just getting there that's sometimes so painful.
i wanna get outta here! not because i don't appreciate the space that Darin's Dad has given us for this long time (it wasn't planned that way, the long time, i mean).......Terry's been really good about it and i think he enjoyed having us here. he always comes home in the evening from his girlfriend across the road and says "Hello House!" and always gets a "Hello" back
and i know he's gonna miss that when we're gone.
but we're not far away and going to see him regularly cos he's not in the best place healthwise either. he has a tumour in his abdomen (along with the prostate cancer he's been battling for at least 15 years) rwhich has grown over a while and is causing him problems with his leg. chemotherapy started last thursday - 10 sessions in all for the time being. but despite all that he's still smiling and in good spirits. so we want to make sure it stays that way.
so, that made for a long read i s'ppose! lotsa stuff going on, but we still try to make the best of every day. and we still laugh: with Dad and his girlfriend Jean, with each other, me with colleagues......Darin with (or about!) his sometimes useless, yet lovely brother Chris....
laughter really IS the best medicine....we DO thrive on it. it keeps each of us alive, each of us together, and each of us in our own ways.
anyway, if we do end up moving out this coming weekend (can everyone just please cross their fingers for us from now until then please! ) then we obviously won't be online for a while since we need to get the broadband sorted.
but, then again, we're not online much anyway cos our computer isn't very healthy either: keeps heating up (as it's doing right now.....it's smelly!!!!) and then just dies on us.
so, another "BUGGER!!!!" to add to the list! LOL
anyway, bedee-bedee-bedee....that's all folx!!!!!
(til next time, that is! )

it ain't easy......

trying very hard to keep it together, but at the moment feel like i might be losing it a smidge.
Darin still hasn't found a job, we're still living at his Dad's place and it doesn't look like things are gonna change tomorrow, so to speak.
i feel so much pressure, cos i'm the only one earning ANY money at the moment and it ain't much i can tell ya! but i have to get us thru until Darin finds a job, in the meantime also helping him pay for his driving licence which will hopefully give him a better chance in his jobsearch.
sometimes i just wanna run away from it all - not from Darin because i love him very much, but from this whole shit situation we're in.
but i can't even do that.....i don't even earn enough to stand on my own 2 feet.
i'm not in a good place right now.
i know it can only get better.
i just don't know when.......
