"O.k., hide your eyes and count to a million."

I hadn't seen Drop Dead Fred in such a long time but, at the weekend I found it in a bargin bin for £3 so I thought I'd treat myself as I was in need of some cheering up.

I'd forgotten just how touching the scene between Fred and Lizzie is where he has to go....as well as how much it has to say whilst still being a feel-good film.

Grossly under-rated though imo.

Found this vid with some great clips of it on youtube...

Monoga-me?

April 24, 2007 02:23PM

Yesterday I was reading an interview in one of my sisters magazines with Scarlett Johansson where she says 'I can get flack for saying this, but I do believe that human beings aren't instinctively monogamous.' and I wondered if that was true.

In life we are brought up to believe that one day we will meet 'the one', settle down and, on the whole, live happily ever after. So if this is true thenwhat does that say for Ms Johansson's decleration?

I know of several friends, male and female, who have either had affairs behind their partners backs, had relationships with people who have had partners already or who refuse to commit to relationships due to the fact they know they couldn't remain faithful to whoever they were with no matter how much they cared for them.

On TV I have noticed a few drama shows over the last couple of years featuring the concepts of open relationships and swinging (both of which are risky things for relationships as there's always the risk that one day your partner will 'play' elsewhere with your permission, like what they're playing with more, and leave) as well as more articles about it springing up in magazines etc which indicate that this is becoming more common-place.

It almost makes you start to question whether (a) real love really exists anymore and (b) whether you can trust anyone not to cheat these days. Is the traditional, old-fashioned relationship dead?

Even the Arctic Monkeys are cynical about it all:

" They made it far too easy to believe
That true romance can't be achieved these days"

What do you think?
