More words.

This journal is meant for tomorrow, but tough luck. You all are getting it now.

So…It’s probably way more than obvious what this is about. Happy birthday Sailor, go Dutch and do a show for us in ______, etc. etc. And that’s partly true (so here I go, “Happy birthday, you old fart! Now where’s my prize?”)

But one year ago, this wouldn’t have happened. No, one year ago, I had just barely discovered the man and his catalogue and, well, it all goes from there. Truly, it’s felt like an eternity, not just one year. In that time, I’ve acquired and listened to his entire discography (not through completely legal means, mind you, but he’s a millionaire or summat so it’s alright), went out and watched several of his movies, created a few stupid comics (and more serious portraits), and did a great job of annoying my friends with prattle about him (or just simply scared them by demonstrating my now-extensive knowledge of everything Bowie.)

More importantly, though, he’s rekindled my interest in things that I never thought I’d be interested in again. Where there once was science, I’ve rediscovered music; I’ve picked up the guitar and tripled my efforts on the piano. I’m now in a band and I’m ready to run through Starman after school today, something that I never thought I’d ever get the chance to do. My tastes in art and music have even pervaded my science at school – I’m doing my two-year research project on those topics, and basically piquing the interest of every faculty member at the Academy. Moreover, he’s given me hope. Although a career in music is not destined for me, nor am I destined for it, I’ve got a nice abundance of silly, girlish-giggly hope.

Come a bit less than two years from now, I plan to go to New York for college. I want to be exposed to culture, to all the things that he sees, and what better place to experience the world than New York?

I do have a very fixative mind. When I like something, I don’t just like it. I love it, I make it my own. Before Bowie, my fixations had varied widely: from Japanese art and animation to science, to movies, to specific characters, to styles…But frankly, I can’t see myself giving up this interest. Years and years from now, I’ll still have this fixation, and my kids will think that I’m such a dork for liking that strange knife guy and his music. No matter. I’m Korean, so as a mother, I’ll get to force them to play piano (and they’ll be good at it, by God, or they won’t get any kimchi for lunch!)

On a completely different note, it’s funny how early I must’ve been exposed to this crazy old man. I thought that my first experience was watching that YouTube video of Space Oddity last New Years and instantly falling in love. No, before that, I had actually owned Under Pressure, a song I adored…No, before that, I had seen Nirvana on MTV Unplugged, with all of us sitting around the TV, mystified by this song…No, before that, I had watched The Snowman in kindergarten music class without even knowing who that man in the live action opening was.

Perhaps he was just waiting for me to find him.

Here’s to the beginning of another great year, Bnet.

Words.

It's late.
What's that, Righty?
Should I go to bed?
...You don't think I've snapped too, have you?
You're just like all the others.
I told them that building a shrine was ferpectly healthy.
They don't know anything.

In other news, I'm in a band...Ish.
Very cool, I play keyboards...Ish.
Although I am feeling a bit inadequate since the General owns me at music...In general (haha.)
But it's sooo nice to be able to play music with people.

We're working on some of his originals and this song, which I'm in love with. Also, Staaaaaarman!
We had a bit of a singalong in Drama today, with that. Fun times, very fun times.

Also,my friend has a message for Sailor that I'm not sure whether or not to actually post. It's incentive to get him to read my blog.
He created a masterpiece here.

Portrait a la Zoolander.
A modern classic.

Have a good rest of week, everyone.

Freeeeeezing.

What have I been DOING?

Geez. I must have died and come back to life just now, or something, because there’s no way that my last blog could have been at the start of November. What is this.

Maybe I should do a blog a month now. It seems to be all I can manage.

What has been going on in my life…?

The usual: school sucks in a huge way, I’m impossibly busy, and I’m living for the weekends nowadays. Parents are telling me I’ll never get into a good college with my grades.

On the plus side, with my first Bowieversary, some sort of crazy Bowie fervor has reignited itself…So here I am, actually talking on the boards and stuff. Maybe that’ll be my blog resolution (but I really need to start doing photography again, lest this page be an abyss of boring.)

Also, DRAMA.

DRAMAAA.

I’ve resolved to take drama next year, even though it’ll only be one year and I feel like I definitely screwed myself over by waiting this long to take a class that I would love. Mr. H is one of the two coolest teachers to ever live – it’s measured by his Bowietude (i.e. for Halloween, he was David Bowie from the Diamond Dogs tour, all suspenders and poofy pants and everything. But the hair was what caught my eye, and it wasn’t until the following day that I realised that the E-Z Cheez coloured hair dye was permanent. So, he has bright yellow-orange hair now. It’s rather amazing.)

For now, I’m just attending the Drama I class after I return from the Academy, so I get about fifteen minutes of class time. I get the impression that this sort of thing happens a lot, because H wasn’t fazed when I walked in, sat next to my friend, and got recruited to do her one-act with her.

Piano is going well, but I ended up bombing my concert for seemingly no apparent reason. I had memorised my song (the famous Chopin “one-minute” Valse), went up on stage, and just blanked. I don’t think I’ve failed so hard in my life, unless you count my Bio test from two weeks ago.

Also, wtf weather. One measly day of snow. And school wasn't even cancelled on the day it was snowing, they waited until the NEXT day after forty car accidents had occurred (this is true) and only gave us a two hour delay. David Snowie, we got GYPPED. I think he got pissed at me for saying that though, because the wind decided that it didn't like how the neighbourhood was set up, and tried to rearrange the houses. I saw a garbage can go flying down the street at one point.

At any rate, I hope I can blog more; maybe that’ll be my new year’s resolution. January 6th marks my first Bowieversary, so I’ve got to honour that. 8D

Have a great day, everyone…I’ve just got to survive one more week…
